Add captions and subtitles

Word-level captions timed from the transcript — karaoke highlighting, styling by prompt, burned into MP4s or carried to your NLE.

Because Eddie has word-level timing from the transcript, its captions land on the beat — each word can highlight as it's spoken.

Add captions

Prompt: "Add captions." Eddie builds a caption track timed to the transcript and shows it live in the player.

Style them

Ask for the look you want:

  • "Bigger captions" / "captions at the bottom".
  • "Highlight each word as it's spoken" — karaoke style.
  • With a brand kit attached: "use our brand font for the captions."

Captions reflow automatically to fit vertical and square canvases — see Crop and reframe.

Every language, in-script

Because Eddie transcribes 100+ languages, captions render in the right writing system too. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai wrap at the correct character boundaries with bundled Noto fonts — no spaces jammed between characters, no boxes for missing glyphs. Karaoke highlighting follows the script.

Right-to-left caveat: Arabic and Hebrew transcribe fine and appear in the transcript and editor, but Eddie currently won't burn RTL captions into an MP4 (the karaoke overdraw misaligns) — so it declines rather than ship them crooked. Export a timeline to your NLE to finish RTL captions there.

Captions vs. subtitles

  • Captions here are the on-screen, styled, animated text — great for social.
  • For a separate subtitle file, export to your NLE: caption timing travels with the edit, and your editor can produce SRT from there.

In export

  • MP4 — captions are burned into the video, karaoke highlight and all.
  • NLE export — caption timing carries into Premiere / Final Cut / Resolve so you can finish styling there.

Pair with remove filler and silences for a clean social cut, then render an MP4.
