Export to CapCut or other video editors

CapCut and similar consumer editors don't read Eddie's native timeline formats, so render your edit as an MP4 and import that instead.

CapCut and many other consumer or mobile-first video editors don't support importing a native editing timeline (FCPXML, Premiere XML, EDL or OTIO) the way Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid do. If you try to bring an Eddie project into one of these tools directly, there's nothing for it to open.

What to do instead

Render your Eddie edit as a finished MP4, then import that MP4 into CapCut (or whichever editor you're using) as a regular video clip:

  1. Ask Eddie to export the edit, or use the Export menu and choose MP4.
  2. Wait for the render to finish — usually a minute or two — and grab the download link.
  3. Import the downloaded MP4 file into CapCut like any other piece of footage.

See Render a finished MP4 for details on cloud vs. desktop rendering, resolution options, and current beta limits.

What you lose vs. an NLE hand-off

Because you're bringing in a flattened video rather than an editable timeline, everything is baked in — cuts, color, titles, captions, b-roll and music are all part of the picture, and you can't pull them apart into separate tracks or clips the way you could with a true timeline export. If you need to keep editing with separate layers and tracks, an NLE that supports timeline hand-off (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Avid, or OTIO) is the right path instead.

When this applies

This isn't specific to CapCut — any tool without FCPXML/XML/EDL/OTIO support (many phone-based or web-based editors fall into this category) needs the same MP4-first approach.
