Send a timeline to Premiere, Resolve or Final Cut, or bring one into Eddie

Which route to use to bring a timeline into Eddie, and to send an Eddie edit back to your editing app.

Eddie edits footage. It does not open project files from other editing apps. Use the route below that matches what you want to do.

Bring work from your editor into Eddie

You haveWhat to do
A Premiere Pro sequenceUse the Eddie desktop app. Import from Premiere Pro and pick the sequence.
A Final Cut Pro projectDrag the project onto the main import screen of the desktop app. This does not work on the web.
A DaVinci Resolve timelineUse the Eddie desktop app and the Resolve script. See Import from Premiere, Final Cut or Resolve.
A .prproj, .drp, .fcpxml, EDL or AAF fileEddie cannot import these files. Export the timeline as a video file from your editor, then import that file.

Eddie takes a sequence or project in as one piece of footage. You cut from it like any other clip.

Import everything you need in one go. Import a timeline on its own. Do not mix editor timelines with plain video files in the same project.

Send an Eddie edit to Premiere, Resolve or Final Cut

  1. Open the edit. Click Export.
  2. Choose your editor. Or click All export options.
  3. Download the file and open it in your editor.
EditorFormat
Premiere ProPremiere project (.prproj), or the older Premiere XML
DaVinci ResolveResolve project (.drp), or Resolve FCPXML
Final Cut ProFCPXML
Other editorsOpenTimelineIO (OTIO)

Each timeline export costs 100 credits, whichever format you pick. If Eddie cannot build or store the file, Eddie charges nothing. For a Premiere project (.prproj) or a Resolve project (.drp), if you export the same unchanged edit again soon after, Eddie gives you the same file and does not charge again.

Media shows offline

  • If you imported in the desktop app, the file points to your original files. Relink to those.
  • If you uploaded on the web or used cloud storage, the file points to Eddie's proxy media. Relink to the proxy files. Do not relink to your camera originals.

See Export to Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, Avid and OTIO and Premiere won't import the XML.

Check a Premiere project before you pay

Ask your chat client to verify the Premiere project for an edit. The check is free. It compares the project file with your saved edit. It does not store a file and does not charge the export price.
