Add your own footage when you work from Claude or ChatGPT

Claude and ChatGPT cannot upload your files. Add footage in the Eddie web app or desktop app, then go back to your chat.

You can drive Eddie from Claude, ChatGPT or another chat client. See Use Eddie from Claude or ChatGPT. One thing does not work from chat: your chat client cannot upload or import your own video files. Add the files in Eddie first. Then ask your chat client to use them.

Add footage to a project

  1. Open the Eddie web app.
  2. To start a new project, choose New project. To add to a project you already have, open it and click + Add next to Media.
  3. Drag your files onto the drop zone. Or pick a cloud source, such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
  4. Click Import.
  5. Wait for the files to finish. Eddie transcribes and analyzes each clip.
  6. Go back to your chat. Ask your chat client to list the sources in the project.

The project is the same in the web app, the desktop app and your chat client. New files appear in the chat after they finish processing.

What your chat client can add

  • An empty project. Ask for a new project with no media. Use it to make a video from generated footage, stock footage or motion graphics. You can add your own files to it later with + Add. Creating the project costs no credits.
  • Stock clips. Ask your chat client to search for stock b-roll. Choose the clips you want. Eddie imports them as b-roll. Eddie does not charge credits for this. A Shutterstock clip uses a download from your own Shutterstock plan.

What it costs

  • An import costs 250 credits for each hour of footage. Eddie bills in 15-minute blocks. The smallest import costs 63 credits.
  • The import includes the first transcript of each file.
  • Adding files to a project you already have costs the same. Eddie bills only the new files.
  • Eddie does not charge you again for the same file within 30 days. The file must come from a finished, paid import in your workspace. This works once for each file. Eddie gives the credits back as a refund on the second import.
  • If a file fails on our side, Eddie refunds its credits.

See How credits and billing work and What costs credits, and what is free.

Files Eddie cannot import

On the web, one import can hold up to 1,000 files.

If the project shows no sources

A project has no sources when you made it without media, or when the first import is still running. Open the project in the web app and check the import. If the import has not started, click + Add and import your files.

Removing a source does not refund its credits. To put a removed source back, import it again.
