Get the Eddie AI extension for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve

Eddie's round trips to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve run through a small companion piece: a panel for Premiere, a script for Resolve. There is no separate extension to download. Both come inside the Eddie desktop app, and the app installs them for you. The web app cannot install them, so install the desktop app first.

DaVinci Resolve on a Mac, step by step

1. Download the Eddie desktop app: Mac with Apple silicon or Intel Mac. On Windows, use the Windows download.
2. Install it, open it, and sign in with the same account you use on the web. Your credits and projects are already there.
3. When the app opens, it puts the Eddie AI AE script into Resolve's Scripts folder. You do not need an admin password.
4. Quit DaVinci Resolve and open it again. Resolve reads its Scripts folder only when it starts.
5. In Resolve, choose Workspace → Scripts → Eddie AI AE. Keep the script running while you send edits.
6. In the Eddie desktop app, open your project and choose Export → Send to DaVinci Resolve. The timeline is built inside the Resolve project you have open.

The script works in the free DaVinci Resolve and in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

If Eddie says Resolve is not connected, open the script and keep it running, then click Try again in Eddie:

DaVinci Resolve from the Mac App Store

Both Mac App Store builds work: DaVinci Resolve (free) and DaVinci Resolve Studio. They need Eddie desktop version 4.0.42 or later. An older version of the app cannot connect to an App Store build.

1. Open Resolve once, then quit it. This creates the folder where the App Store build reads its scripts.
2. Update the Eddie desktop app to 4.0.42 or later, and open it. It puts the Eddie AI AE script into the App Store build's own Scripts folder. To run this again, choose Help → Install DaVinci Resolve Extension… in the desktop app.
3. Open Resolve and choose Workspace → Scripts → Eddie AI AE. Keep the script running while you send edits.

The Workflow Integrations panel does not work on App Store builds. Use the script.

No desktop app? You can still get your edit into Resolve

On the web, open your project's Export menu. Resolve 21 project gives you a new Resolve project (.drp). Resolve FCPXML gives you a timeline to import into a project you already have open. Neither needs the extension. See Getting an Eddie timeline into DaVinci Resolve.

Premiere Pro: the Eddie AI AE panel

• What's installed — the Eddie AI AE panel, a standard Adobe CEP extension that ships inside the desktop app.
• When — automatically, as part of Send to Premiere Pro in the desktop app. There's nothing to download separately.
• How — the app hands the bundled extension to Adobe's own installer (the Unified Plugin Installer Agent that comes with Creative Cloud). No third-party ZXP tools involved.
• Where it appears — in Premiere, under Window → Extensions → Eddie AI AE.

If Eddie says Premiere is not connected, the panel is installed but did not answer. Open it and keep it open, then click Try again in Eddie:

Creative Cloud is required. The install runs through Adobe's installer agent, so on a machine without Creative Cloud it cannot proceed. Install Creative Cloud (with Premiere Pro) first, then run the send again.

DaVinci Resolve: the Eddie AI AE script

• What's installed — a small "Eddie AI AE" utility script (Eddie AI AE.lua), the bridge Eddie uses to build your timeline inside Resolve.
• When — automatically, each time the desktop app opens, and again as part of Send to DaVinci Resolve.
• Where it lands — your user-level Fusion Scripts/Utility folder. It's a per-user install, so no admin rights or password are needed.
• Where it appears — in Resolve, under Workspace → Scripts → Eddie AI AE, available from every Resolve page.

Update the Premiere Pro panel when Eddie asks

Sometimes Eddie needs a newer version of the panel than the one in Premiere. It then shows Update the Eddie extension for Premiere, with the version Premiere has and the version Eddie needs. Follow the four steps on that screen:

1. Sign in to Adobe Creative Cloud.
2. Quit Premiere Pro completely, including in the background.
3. Click Update in Eddie.
4. Reopen Premiere Pro, then open Window → Extensions → Eddie AI AE.

If it does not work, quit Creative Cloud and Premiere Pro, then try again. Still stuck? Restart your computer.

Update or reconnect the DaVinci Resolve Studio panel

In DaVinci Resolve Studio, Eddie can also install a panel that you open from Workspace → Workflow Integrations. App Store builds use the script above instead. When Eddie says the panel needs an update, it shows Update the Resolve panel:

1. Save your work and quit Resolve. The installer will not run while Resolve is open.
2. In Eddie, click Check again, then Update panel.
3. Reopen Resolve Studio.
4. Open Workspace → Workflow Integrations → Eddie AI AE.

To reconnect a panel that is already installed, open your project in Resolve Studio, open Workspace → Workflow Integrations → Eddie AI AE, keep the panel open, then click Try again in Eddie:

Install from the Help menu

This is the Help menu of the Eddie desktop app, in its menu bar (on a Mac, at the top of the screen). It is not the help centre, and the web app has no such menu. You can run either install on its own, without starting a send:

• Help → Install Premiere Pro Extension… installs the Eddie AI AE panel.
• Help → Install DaVinci Resolve Extension… installs the Eddie AI AE script.

Each one tells you what happened rather than finishing quietly — installed, or why it couldn't. If Creative Cloud isn't on the machine, the Premiere item says so instead of failing with no explanation. If Resolve isn't installed yet, the Resolve item offers to put the script in place anyway, which is what you want when you're setting a machine up before Resolve is on it.

Restart Premiere or Resolve afterwards so it picks up the new panel or script.

Troubleshooting

• Installed, but not visible in the NLE — restart Premiere or Resolve. Both scan for extensions and scripts at launch, so a panel or script installed while the NLE was open won't appear until the next start.
• Premiere: the install fails straight away — the usual cause is a missing Adobe installer agent, which means Creative Cloud isn't installed (or isn't fully installed) on that machine. Install Creative Cloud, then retry the send.
• Resolve: checking the script by hand — look for Eddie AI AE.lua in your user-level Utility scripts folder: on Mac, ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Utility; on Windows, %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Scripts\Utility. If the file is there but the menu item isn't, restart Resolve.
