Music library: a workspace shelf, one track per project

Every workspace has a music shelf — a library of tracks you can pull into any project. It follows the same pattern as brand kits: build the shelf once, then attach exactly one track per project.

What's on the shelf

• Upload your own track — MP3, WAV or M4A, up to 150 MB. You can also upload straight from an edit: on the Music lane, click + and choose Upload a file; the track joins the shelf too.
• Generate one with Eddie — inside a project, not on the Music page (see below). Ask for music in an edit and the finished track is filed onto the shelf automatically, ready to reuse in another project later.

The Music page does not generate music

The Music page is the shelf itself. It has Add music (upload), and for each track a player, a download button and a delete button. It has no Generate button, so there is nothing to look for there. To make a new track, work inside a project:

• From the Music lane. Open the project's edit in the timeline view. When the edit's Music lane is empty and you have edit access, click Generate music in the lane (or the ✨ on the lane's left rail), pick a style, mood and tempo, and click Generate. If the lane already has music, click + on its rail and choose Generate for this section.
• By asking. Type "Add an upbeat electronic track under the whole edit" in the project's prompt.

The button does not depend on how long the edit is. Generated tracks run 10 seconds to 5 minutes whatever the edit's length, and they cost 200 credits per minute. The button is hidden on viewer or commenter access (generating needs edit access) and when no edit is open. If you do not see it, ask Eddie in the prompt instead.

Multiple tracks per workspace

Keep as many tracks as you like on the shelf — a workspace theme, a few moods, one per client.

Attach a track to a project

In a project's Backgrounder section, pick exactly one track for that project (or None). That's the track Eddie reaches for when you ask for music in that edit.

Ask Eddie to use it

With a track attached to the project:

"Add the music." "Put our theme song under this edit."

Eddie places the attached track on the edit's Music lane, ducked under speech the same way as a generated one.

Place more than one track

An edit's Music lane can hold several cues. Click + on the lane (Add music at the playhead) and choose From the shelf to drop any shelf track at the playhead. See Generate with Eddie for cues, crossfades and ducking.

When the track and your cut don't match

If the attached track runs materially longer or shorter than your cut, Eddie stops and asks how to reconcile them:

• Fit the track to your cut (the default) — the track loops or trims to match your picture, same as it's always done.
• Keep the full track — Eddie notes the choice and tells you exactly how much picture is missing, but won't extend the cut for you; you'll need to add more footage or plan the edit around the track length yourself.

Pair with a brand kit and a Backgrounder so an edit is on-message, on-brand, and sounds like you.
