Export a written transcript

Pull the transcript of any source or edit out of Eddie as a text file, SRT, or document by asking for it directly.

There's no dedicated "export transcript" button in the app, but Eddie can generate the document for you on request — it already has the full, word-level transcript for every source and edit.

How to get one

Just ask, and be specific about which transcript you want and the format:

  • "Export the transcript of this interview as a plain text document."
  • "Give me an SRT of the transcript for this source."
  • "Turn the transcript for [source name] into a Word document."

Eddie pulls the transcript already generated for that source (or for the edit's kept lines, if you ask for the edit rather than the raw source) and produces the file in the format you asked for.

Source transcript vs. edit transcript

  • A source's full transcript is everything spoken in that file, start to finish — useful as a record of the whole interview or recording.
  • An edit's transcript is just the lines that survived the cut, in edit order — closer to a script of the finished piece.

Say which one you mean; if it's ambiguous, Eddie will ask.

  • If what you actually want is styled, animated on-screen captions, see Add captions and subtitles — that's a different, purpose-built feature from a plain transcript file.
  • If you want the pre-edit interview outline (titles, summaries, timestamped sections) rather than a word-for-word transcript, see Download interview and B-roll logs for the built-in export options (CSV, Word, NLE timeline, or straight to Google Drive).
