Paste a link into your prompt
Paste a web page or a YouTube video into the prompt box and Eddie offers to save it to the project's Backgrounder, at a price it states first. What each kind of link does.
You can paste a link into the prompt box as background information or as a style reference. Eddie does not open the link by itself. It offers once to save it to the project's Backgrounder, and says what that costs before anything happens.
What happens when you send a prompt with a link
- Eddie looks at the first link in your prompt and asks one question: save it to the project's Backgrounder?
- The question states the exact price. Nothing is fetched and nothing is charged until you choose.
- Save adds the link to the Backgrounder, attached to this project, and then runs your prompt with it. Run without saving runs your prompt as you wrote it.
A link you save stays in the project's Backgrounder, so later prompts in the project can use it too. If the project already holds the same link, Eddie uses it and does not ask again.
If your prompt is only the link, Save adds it and stops. Then tell Eddie what to do with it.
What each kind of link does
- A web page or article — Eddie reads the page's text. It costs 10 credits, the same as adding a link on the Backgrounder page. The text is ready for the prompt you just sent.
- A YouTube video — saved as a reference video: Eddie watches it and notes the pacing, shots, transitions and look, so it can copy the style. It costs 500 credits, charged only once the video is in, and refunded if the analysis fails. The analysis takes a few minutes, so the prompt you just sent may not have it yet. Eddie says so, and the video is there for your next prompt.
- Instagram, TikTok and other social video — Eddie can't fetch video from these sites. To use the clip, download it and upload it to the Backgrounder as a reference video. You can still save the link as a plain link item for 10 credits, but the page text is usually just the caption.
Links Eddie does not offer to save
- Links to your footage in Google Drive, Dropbox, Frame.io and similar services. Import footage with + Add in the project instead.
- Links to Eddie itself, such as a share link.
One question per prompt
Eddie asks at most one question about a prompt that is not about money. If it already asked you something else about the same prompt, or you said not to ask anything, it does not open the link and says so in one line. You can add the link on the Backgrounder page instead.
Where saved links go
Eddie saves links from prompts into one folder for the project, named Links from prompts followed by the project's name, and attaches it to the project. You can see, rename or remove it on the Backgrounder page.
