Get Eddie notifications in Slack or Microsoft Teams

Post project updates — ready, exports, comments, failures — to a Slack or Teams channel your team already watches.

Eddie can post project updates straight into a channel your team already watches — Slack or Microsoft Teams. The connection lives on the workspace (the owner sets it up once); delivery is per project, off by default, so only the projects you switch on ever post.

What gets posted

  • Project ready — the import finished and the project is ready to explore.
  • Import failed — media didn't make it in (with a link to retry).
  • Export complete — an MP4 render or NLE export finished.
  • New comment — someone commented on an edit.
  • Low credit balance — the workspace is running low.

Every message names the project and links straight to it. Each event type can be toggled per channel, and messages never include your footage or transcripts — just names, counts and links.

Connect Slack (workspace owner)

  1. In Slack, create an incoming webhook for the channel you want: open the channel, add the Incoming Webhooks app (or create one at api.slack.com/apps), and copy the webhook URL (it starts with hooks.slack.com/services/).
  2. In Eddie, open the workspace menu on your dashboard and choose Notifications (that link opens it directly).
  3. Choose Connect next to Slack, paste the webhook URL, add a label like #video-team, and connect. Eddie sends a test message to the channel immediately so you know it works.

Connect Microsoft Teams (workspace owner)

Teams retired its old "connectors" — the current way is a Workflows webhook:

  1. In Teams, hover the channel you want, choose ⋯ → Workflows, and pick the template "Send webhook alerts to a channel" (its trigger is When a Teams webhook request is received). Save it and copy the webhook URL Teams shows you.
  2. In Eddie, open Notifications from the workspace menu on your dashboard.
  3. Choose Connect next to Microsoft Teams, paste the URL, label it, and connect. Eddie sends a test card to the channel.

Turn it on per project

Connecting posts nothing by itself. In any project, open the bell in the header and switch on Slack / Teams updates — from then on that project's events post to the channel. Anyone who can edit the project can flip it, and you can turn it off the same way.

Troubleshooting

  • The test message never arrived — re-copy the webhook URL end-to-end; a truncated paste is the usual cause. For Teams, make sure the workflow is turned on in the Workflows app.
  • Events stopped posting — the settings panel shows the last delivery status per channel. If the webhook was deleted on the Slack/Teams side, disconnect and connect a fresh one.
  • A project isn't posting — check its bell: the per-project switch is off by default, including for brand-new projects.
  • Wrong channel — the webhook determines the channel. Create a webhook in the right channel and reconnect.
