Importing a podcast or multi-camera conversation with separate mics
When each speaker was recorded on their own camera and microphone, Eddie needs a file that actually contains every voice, or it will only play whoever's camera it's cutting to.
If you shoot a podcast or two-person conversation with one camera (and microphone) per person, Eddie syncs the cameras into a multicam group automatically when they're imported together. But Eddie plays whichever single file's audio the cut is currently showing — if each camera's file only captured that person's own mic, cutting to Camera A means you only hear Person A, even during Person B's reactions or crosstalk.
There's no separate "podcast mode" to turn on. The fix is making sure Eddie has access to a file where every speaker is actually audible together.
What to bring in
Alongside your camera angles, include one file that has everyone's voice mixed together — for example:
- A combined/mixed-down export from your recording platform (Riverside, Zoom, Squadcast and similar tools usually offer a "combined" or "all speakers" audio/video download, separate from the individual per-speaker tracks).
- A shared room mic or board mix that picked up both people, if you recorded one.
Import this alongside your camera angles, in the same upload. Tell Eddie it's another angle or audio source of the same take ("this is the combined audio for the same conversation as camA and camB — sync it in") if it doesn't get grouped automatically.
Why separate per-speaker files aren't enough
A double-ender or multi-track export typically gives you one isolated track per person. That's great for cleanup, but none of those files alone contains both voices — so however Eddie cuts between cameras, only one person's mic is ever actually playing. This isn't a bug to fix after the fact with prompting; it's a gap in what audio exists in the project.
Setting the group's audio once you have a combined track
Once the combined file is in the project and synced into the multicam group, you can point the whole group's sound at it: hover the file in the media list, open its ⋮ menu, and choose Set as active audio. This re-points every cut in that group — preview, renders and exports — at the combined track in one step. See Multicam: the complete guide for the full mechanics, and Make one clip louder, quieter or silent for pulling specific clips' sound from a specific synced file instead.
Cost
Every file you import is billed as its own source, on its length — see How credits and billing work. Importing a combined audio/video file alongside your camera angles costs the same as importing any other file of that length; there's no bundled "podcast import" discount.
