Subclips and picking the best parts of a clip

There's no dedicated "subclip" tool or separate "Best Sub-clips" workflow/mode in Eddie, distinct from the normal prompt-driven editing you already use. If you're looking for a mode switch to review every source clip, mark the strongest portions, and trim the rest — that isn't a thing to toggle on. The equivalent happens automatically, earlier, and you steer it by prompting like everything else.

What already happens automatically

When footage is imported, Eddie logs it in the background — see What logging is, and why you would want logs. For B-roll specifically, each clip's log includes a description of what's on screen, its shot type, the themes it touches, and the sections of it that are actually usable. That's the closest thing to a "best sub-clips" pass: Eddie has already identified the good parts of a clip before you ever prompt an edit.

For A-roll (interviews), the log is a per-interview outline with timestamped sections, so you can see the shape of an interview without scrubbing it.

How to act on it

Instead of a separate review mode, just tell Eddie what you want from the footage you already have:

• "Use only the usable parts of this b-roll clip — skip anything blurry or out of focus."
• "Pull the strongest soundbites from each interview and put them in order."
• "Cover this section with the best-matching b-roll available, and skip clips that don't really fit."

Eddie reads the same logs it built at import and applies that judgement inside your prompt-driven edit, rather than in a separate pass you'd have to trigger.
