What costs credits, and what is free
A short list of the common actions and their credit cost, and what is free, so you can check before you start.
Most editing work in Eddie costs nothing beyond the prompt. A few actions cost credits. Use this list for a quick answer. For every price, see the Price list.
Costs credits
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Import footage | 250 for each hour, billed in 15-minute blocks. The smallest import is 63. |
| Add files to a project you already have | The same rate, on the new files only |
| Transcribe a file again (replace its transcript) | 250 for each hour, with a 15-minute minimum |
| Place b-roll from your footage on a cut | 350 for each hour of b-roll files the cut uses |
| Send an edit to Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut or OTIO | 100 for each export |
| Make a cloud MP4 | No daily limit. The first 10 each day are free for each workspace, then 50 each. |
| Generate music | 200 for each minute |
| Stabilize shaky footage | 40 for each minute of source |
| Find moments by watching footage | 600 for each hour searched |
| Audio description | 200 for each minute of the edit |
The import includes the first transcript of each file. There is no daily limit on MP4 exports. The free count resets at midnight UTC. Downloading an unchanged edit again is free and does not count.
Free
- A quick question that changes nothing in your project, when Eddie answers it from your project, your edits and the help centre. A question that makes Eddie read your transcripts, look at frames or analyze an edit is charged like a prompt run.
- Cuts, trims, captions and titles. These cost nothing beyond the prompt.
- Creating an empty project.
- Checking your balance and your credit history.
- Stock b-roll search and import. Eddie does not charge credits for this.
Prompts
A prompt run costs credits for the work it does. There is no fixed price. Most runs cost between about 80 and 380 credits. A big first build across hours of footage costs more. Eddie shows what each run cost.
Looking at frames of your video is part of the run. A run that looks at many frames costs more.
Pro credits and Regular credits
A credit is a credit. Every price is the same for both kinds. Edit runs spend Pro credits first. Imports, exports and tools spend Regular credits first. If you run out of Pro credits, the run continues on Regular credits. See Pro credits, Regular credits and which AI model runs your edit.
Check the price first
Say: "Tell me the price before you do anything paid." Eddie checks each price and waits for your OK. You can also ask your chat client to read your balance and your credit history.
If a task fails on our side, Eddie refunds the credits.
