Audio plays in only one ear after exporting to Premiere

When a mono source clip imports into Premiere as if it were the left channel of a stereo pair, the fix is usually in Premiere's audio channel or sequence settings, not the export itself.

If your exported edit plays back with sound only in your left ear (or only one channel) when opened in Premiere Pro, this is almost always a Premiere-side channel handling issue rather than a problem with the export itself.

Why this happens

Many source clips — especially from single-mic recordings — are captured with a single mono audio track. Premiere sometimes imports mono audio as if it were the left channel of a stereo pair, leaving the right channel silent instead of duplicating the signal across both.

What to check first

  1. Select the affected clip(s) in Premiere's Project panel.
  2. Right-click → Modify → Audio Channels.
  3. Confirm the source is set to Mono and check the channel assignment — you want the mono track mapped so it plays on both the left and right output channels, not just one.

If the clips are already set to mono

If the clip-level setting already shows mono, the issue is more likely in the sequence itself:

  1. Right-click the sequence in the Project panel and open Sequence Settings.
  2. Check the Timeline Audio Channel configuration — if it's set to Mono, or the master track is panned instead of centered, that can route the entire mix to one ear.
  3. Adjust the sequence's audio output to Stereo and confirm the master track isn't panned hard to one side.

Good to know

This is a playback/import configuration issue in Premiere, not something baked into the Eddie export — the same source audio plays normally in Eddie's own player and in a rendered MP4. If adjusting both the clip and sequence audio settings doesn't resolve it, contact support with the project name so we can check the exported file's audio track layout directly.
