Getting an Eddie timeline into DaVinci Resolve
Two ways into Resolve: File > Import > Timeline, or the Eddie AI AE script under Workspace > Scripts.
Eddie exports a Resolve-tuned FCPXML. There are two ways to bring it in.
The standard route
- In Eddie, export for DaVinci Resolve.
- In Resolve: File > Import > Timeline, and pick the downloaded file.
- Relink if prompted — exports reference your media by file name and path.
The script route (desktop app)
If you use the Eddie desktop app, it installs a companion script inside Resolve. In Resolve's menu bar:
Workspace > Scripts > Eddie AI AE
Run it and it pulls your Eddie export into the current Resolve project — handy when you're doing repeated round trips.
When the script gets installed
The Eddie AI AE script is placed in Resolve's Scripts folder the first time you open Eddie's Resolve import in the desktop app (a newer build also installs it automatically at launch). So if it isn't in the menu yet:
- Open the Resolve import in the Eddie desktop app once, then check Workspace > Scripts again.
- Restart Resolve after it's installed — Resolve only scans its Scripts folder at launch.
- In Resolve preferences, ensure external scripting is allowed.
If the timeline comes in wrong
- Re-export from Eddie (always the first move — fixes anything generated by an older exporter).
- Import into a fresh Resolve project to rule out settings carried over from the current one.
- Grades, crops and overlays come across as clips and effects you can adjust; check the track list before assuming something is missing.
