Some of my files are missing after uploading

If you uploaded several files but only some show up in your project, here's what's happening and what to do.

Why this happens

When you upload a batch of files, each one is imported as a separate source. If your workspace only shows some of them afterward, it almost always means one or more of the others never finished importing — they didn't silently "lose" their place, they simply didn't land in the project.

Common causes:

  • The upload was interrupted partway through (lost connection, browser/app closed, computer went to sleep).
  • A file failed validation (corrupt file, unsupported codec/container, or a file that was still being written to when the upload started).
  • A large batch is still processing — some files can still be finishing in the background even if others already appear.

How to check

Ask Eddie to list the sources in your project (or check the media panel). Compare that list against what you tried to upload. If a file is missing from A-roll, B-roll, and any ungrouped/ungrouped multicam bucket, it did not make it into the project — there's no hidden place it could be sitting.

What to do

  • Re-upload the missing files. Eddie doesn't have a way to "recover" a file that never fully arrived — the fix is to try the import again.
  • If a re-upload fails again, check the file itself opens and plays normally on your machine first.
  • If it keeps failing on a file that looks fine, contact support with the filename and roughly when you tried uploading it.

If support tells you a fix has shipped, you'll usually need to re-attempt the upload yourself — a backend fix doesn't automatically pull in files that never landed.
