How recipes, Styles, Backgrounders and brand kits fit together

A Backgrounder is what Eddie knows, a brand kit is whose video it is, a Style is how the graphics look, and a recipe is the job that uses them.

Four parts tell Eddie how to make your videos. Each part has one job.

How they work together

  • A project reads its Backgrounder folders and its brand kit on every prompt. You attach them once.
  • A Style is set on each edit. Ask for it by name, or let a recipe set it.
  • A recipe is the job you run in a project. It can pin a Style. A recipe with a workflow can also name the Backgrounder folders and brand kit it needs.

When two parts disagree

  • Brand kit font beats Style font. Your brand kit's font replaces the Style's font.
  • A pinned Style is applied first. When a recipe pins a Style, Eddie sets it before it adds any graphic or caption.
  • Your words win. A request in the prompt, such as a colour for one title, is applied over the Style for that graphic.

A typical setup

  1. Make a brand kit with your logo, colours and fonts.
  2. Make a Backgrounder folder with your names, brief and references. Attach it to the project.
  3. Pick a recipe from the recipe gallery, or make your own. Pin the Style you want.
  4. Run the recipe in the project.

Not the same as a saved look

A saved look (a named style) is a whole-edit look: pacing, punch-ins, grade, music and captions. A Style covers graphics and captions only. You can use both.
