Import from iconik
Connect iconik with an application token, then browse, search or paste an asset/collection URL — Eddie imports the best available proxy or original from your MAM.
If your library lives in iconik, Eddie can pull footage from it directly — browse or search your assets, or just paste an iconik URL. Eddie can also deliver finished edits back into iconik, with review comments flowing back onto your timeline.
Before you start
Eddie talks to iconik using an application token — a pair of values called an App-ID and a Token. Generating one is an admin action in iconik (ADMIN → application tokens; iconik shows the token only once, so copy it somewhere safe).
On the import screen, click iconik, choose Browse iconik, and paste the App-ID and Auth-Token when asked. They're stored encrypted server-side and never leave Eddie's backend. If your Eddie workspace already has iconik connected, that shared connection is used.
Two ways to import
Browse or search. After connecting, browse your iconik library — collections work like folders — or search by title. Select the assets you want and import. The picker remembers where you left off on this device, so adding more media later doesn't mean re-walking the tree from the root.
Paste an iconik URL. Copy an asset or collection URL straight out of the iconik web app (app.iconik.io/asset/… or app.iconik.io/collection/…) and paste it into the iconik dialog. A collection URL imports the media inside it, sub-collections included. Since iconik has no public links, pasted URLs resolve through your connected iconik account.
Proxies and originals
For each asset, Eddie imports the proxy when iconik has one — it's smaller, transfers faster, and is all Eddie needs for transcription and editing. When an asset has no proxy (still transcoding in iconik, or proxy generation is off), Eddie transfers the original and generates its own proxy during import.
Either way the clip is named after the asset's iconik title, and exports that hand off to your NLE relink to the original high-res file's path — see Export to your NLE.
Assets with neither a proxy nor an original ready in iconik yet can't be imported; Eddie names the ones it skipped rather than dropping them silently.
What gets skipped
- Camera RAW that needs a vendor SDK — REDCODE RAW (.r3d), Blackmagic RAW (.braw) and Canon Cinema RAW Light (.crm) can't be read by a cloud import, so the browser doesn't offer those originals. If iconik has made a proxy for the asset, the proxy imports fine.
Good to know
- Cloud imports are billed on measured footage length. Durations aren't known until the files are processed, so the cost shows as pending at pick time and settles once the footage is measured.
- Transfers run server-side — you can close the tab once the import starts.
Troubleshooting
- "iconik isn't connected" — pasting an iconik URL only works once an application token is connected. Choose Browse iconik and connect first.
- A pasted URL isn't recognized — it needs to be an asset or collection page URL. Search-result pages and other iconik URLs don't carry an importable id.
- An asset won't import — it may have no proxy or original ready in iconik yet. Check the asset's files in iconik and retry once transcoding finishes.
- Connection fails entirely — disconnect and reconnect iconik from the Integrations screen, then try the import again. Still stuck? See Connect cloud storage.
