Insta360 and 360° footage: what Eddie supports
Eddie accepts Insta360 .insv files but has no 360° tools: no view reframing and no fisheye correction. Export a flat video first, then reframe it to vertical or square in Eddie.
Insta360 and other 360° cameras record a wide picture, or a full sphere. Eddie accepts the files. Eddie has no tools made for 360° pictures.
What Eddie supports
- Import. Eddie accepts Insta360
.insvfiles and GoPro low-res.lrvfiles as video. See Supported file formats. - Reframing a flat video. Eddie turns a horizontal video into a vertical or square cut. It crops each clip to keep the subject in frame.
- Stabilization. Eddie can stabilize shaky footage when you ask.
What Eddie does not do
- No 360° view control. Eddie cannot point the view at a subject. It cannot keyframe a pan across the sphere.
- No fisheye or lens correction. Eddie does not remove wide-lens distortion.
- No special handling of a 360° picture. Eddie reads an
.insvfile as an ordinary video file. How the picture looks depends on how the camera recorded it. Check the clip in the player after the import.
What to do for a flat result
- In the software from your camera maker, set the view and the lens correction that you want.
- Export a flat video file, for example an MP4.
- Import that file into Eddie.
Eddie then treats it like any other video.
Reframe a flat video in Eddie
Ask for the shape that you need:
- "Make this vertical for TikTok."
- "Square version for the feed."
Eddie crops each clip. A crop is a fixed frame for the whole clip. Eddie does not follow a moving subject. To fix a shot by hand, select the clip on the timeline and move its crop frame. See Crop and reframe for social.
Shaky action footage
Ask Eddie: "Stabilize this clip." Eddie steadies the picture and crops it in slightly. Stabilization costs credits for each minute of source footage. Ask Eddie for the price before you start. See Stabilize shaky footage.
