Add word-timed captions

Ask Eddie for captions. They are timed to each word from the transcript, and you style them by prompt.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Here's the approach.

Prompt "Add captions." Eddie builds a caption track timed to the transcript, word by word, and shows it in the player.

Style the captions by asking for the look you want. An MP4 burns them in. An NLE export carries them in a way that depends on the format.

Step by step.

    Ask for captions

Prompt "Add captions." You can also use the button on the Captions lane of the timeline.

  2. 02

    Style them

Ask in plain words: "Bigger captions", "Captions at the bottom", "Highlight each word as it's spoken", or "Make Speaker 2's captions yellow".

  3. 03

Take them where you need them

An MP4 render burns the captions in. An FCPXML puts each caption on the timeline as an editable title. A DaVinci Resolve .drp puts them on a subtitle track. SRT and VTT files are in All export options.
