Install the Eddie AI extension for Avid Media Composer

Eddie now connects to Avid Media Composer the same way it connects to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve: a small extension, installed from the desktop app, that lets you bring clips in from your open bins and send an edit back as a new sequence — in the tool you already use. This is a beta feature.

What's supported right now

• Media Composer 2024 and 2025.
• Mac and Windows, wherever the Eddie desktop app runs — Avid integration isn't available from the web editor, since it depends on a live connection to a copy of Media Composer running on the same machine.

Install the extension

1. In the Eddie desktop app's import options, choose Avid Media Composer (marked beta).
2. Click Install extension. Quit Media Composer first if it's open — the installer needs it closed.
3. Once installed, (re)open Media Composer, open a project, and click Check connection back in Eddie.

If Media Composer was already open when you installed, quit it completely and reopen it — it only picks up new extensions at launch.

Where it shows up in Media Composer

Once installed and connected, look for Eddie AI AE under Tools or Extensions in Media Composer's menu bar. If it isn't listed, quit Media Composer completely and reopen it — a partial restart (just closing the project) isn't enough.

Bring clips in from Avid bins

With Media Composer open and connected, Eddie's Avid import panel shows your open bins. Search across them, select the clips you want, and click Add to bring them into your Eddie project.

Two things worth knowing:

• Open the bins first. Eddie reads whatever bins are open in Media Composer — open the ones with the media you want, then refresh in Eddie if you don't see them yet.
• Simple media clips only. Timelines and multicam clips in your bins aren't importable from Avid yet — Eddie flags them as unavailable rather than importing something broken. Bring in the underlying camera clips instead.

Send an edit back to Media Composer

Send an edit to Avid the same way you'd send one to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Instead of a file to open by hand, Eddie builds a new sequence directly inside your already-open Media Composer project, through the same extension — so it shows up ready to work with, not as a download to track down.

Troubleshooting

• "Eddie AI AE" isn't in the Tools or Extensions menu — quit Media Composer completely (not just the project) and reopen it.
• Connection won't complete — confirm a project is open in Media Composer, then click Check connection again in Eddie.
• A clip won't import — if it's a timeline or a multicam clip, that's expected for now; only simple media clips import from Avid bins today.
