Install the desktop app

Install the Eddie AI desktop app for native local playback, uncapped MP4 rendering and the NLE integrations — same account as the web.

The Eddie AI desktop app adds local-footage workflows to everything you can do on the web. It's available for both Mac and, as of the first Windows release (3.5.30), Windows.

Install and sign in

  1. Download the Eddie AI desktop app — Mac (Apple silicon) or Windows. On an Intel Mac, use the download prompts in the web app.
  2. Install it and sign in with the same account you use on the web.

Your account, workspaces, projects and credits are shared across web and desktop.

What the desktop app adds

  • Native playback of local source footage — no waiting on cloud proxies.
  • Local MP4 rendering — bake the finished video on your machine, with no length cap or daily quota. See Render an MP4.
  • Import from your NLE — send footage from Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve. See Import from your NLE.
  • One-click send to Resolve or Premiere Pro — from the desktop app, send your edit straight into a new DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro project with one click, instead of exporting a file and importing it by hand. See Export to Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, Avid & OTIO for what carries over.
  • RAW footage — decodes Blackmagic BRAW and (with REDCINE-X) RED R3D directly; Canon and Sony RAW work via proxies. See RAW footage and codecs.

More reliable lately

Recent desktop releases also made the app steadier day-to-day: fewer sign-in interruptions, and more reliable uploads on large files.

Web vs. desktop

The project and the edit are the same everywhere. Use the web for quick cloud imports, prompting and sharing; use desktop when the footage lives on your machine or you want a finished video file rendered locally.

If something looks wrong after signing in

If your credits or workspaces look off right after signing in, sign out and back in to refresh the session. Still wrong? See Contact support.
