Ratings, keywords and Favorites in a Final Cut Pro export
How to get Favorites, rejects and keywords onto your clips in the Final Cut Pro browser: a stringout with Favorites, the Export menu options, and the B-roll log.
Eddie can put Favorites, rejects and keywords on your clips in the Final Cut Pro browser. There are three ways. Each one needs a different step.
1. Favorites for the best moments of your clips
Use this when you want each good moment to show under Favorites in the Final Cut browser. It works for b-roll with no transcript.
- Ask Eddie to put the moments on a timeline. For example: "Find the best, most usable moments across all my clips and build them into one timeline, in order."
- Ask for the Final Cut export with Favorites. For example: "Export this edit as FCPXML and mark every clip as a Favorite."
Eddie marks the in point and out point of each timeline clip as a Favorite range on that clip's source clip. The timeline is also in the file.
- Eddie does not mark a clip with a speed change, a disabled clip or an audio-only clip. Eddie's reply counts them.
- Overlapping ranges of one file become one range.
- This option works with the Final Cut format (FCPXML) only.
- The price is the same as a normal timeline export. See the Price list.
2. The marks you made in Eddie
The Export menu can add your own marks to the Final Cut file.
- Open the edit and open Export.
- Choose Final Cut Pro.
- Look at the three options. All three are on at the start:
- Favorites & rejects. A clip or a transcript passage that you bookmarked becomes a Favorite range. A b-roll clip that you rejected, or a transcript passage that you deleted, becomes a Reject range.
- Labels as keywords. Each label on a clip, and each label on a transcript passage, becomes a keyword range.
- Transcript markers. Each transcript passage becomes a marker, with the speaker in its note.
Eddie writes these on the clips in the Final Cut browser. Eddie leaves out a source that has no file location to point at.
3. The B-roll log
The B-roll log gives you a Final Cut file before you make an edit.
- Open a project that has no edit yet.
- Open Export, find the B-roll log, and choose Final Cut Pro (FCPXML).
The file has these marks on the b-roll clips in the browser:
- Keywords for the shot type, for "All B-rolls", and for each group that Eddie made.
- For each moment that Eddie analysed: keywords for its topics, with the description in the note.
- Favorite ranges for the good moments.
- Favorite and Reject marks from your own review, as in way 2.
A footage-log export costs 100 credits. See Download interview and B-roll logs.
Ratings and keywords that you set in the chat
You can ask Eddie to set a scene, a take, a rating or keywords on a clip. See Change clip metadata. Eddie reads these when it chooses shots. Eddie does not write them into Final Cut as ratings or as keyword ranges.
To get a mark in Final Cut, use one of the three ways above:
- To mark a good moment, bookmark it, or use way 1.
- To add a keyword, ask Eddie to label the clip. Then export with Labels as keywords on.
