Audio description for blind and low-vision viewers

Eddie can write an audio description for a clip or an edit. An audio description is short narration that says what is on screen, for viewers who are blind or have low vision. Eddie times each description to fit a gap in the dialogue, so it never talks over a speaker.

Where to find it

1. Open the clip or the edit.
2. Open Export and choose Transcript.
3. Select Audio description.

The row shows the price and the expected wait before you click. It describes the clip on screen, or the edit in focus.

What it costs

50 credits a minute, in whole minutes, with a one-minute minimum. For example, a 4-minute 10-second edit costs 250 credits. You pay when you press the row. If the job fails, the credits come back automatically.

What you get

• .ad.vtt — the description track, as WebVTT. A player that supports description tracks reads it.
• .ad.srt — a timing sheet to import into your editor. It is not a subtitle file for viewers.
• .ad.txt — the script as plain text, for example for a voice-over artist.
• .ad.extended.vtt — only when needed. Sometimes something important on screen has no gap in the dialogue. That description goes in this file, and a player that supports extended descriptions pauses the video for it.

The job takes a few minutes. You can close the menu while it runs. The files wait in the row.

Review before you publish

The descriptions are AI-generated. No human reviews them. Read them before you publish. When Eddie is unsure about a description, it flags it with a NOTE in the .vtt file, and the row says how many descriptions are flagged.

Good to know

• Eddie finds the gaps from the transcript. A clip with no transcript is refused until you transcribe it. Nothing is charged for a refusal.
