How to share a DaVinci Resolve edit for review
The short answer
Render a review copy on the Deliver page, a 1080p H.264 with burned-in timecode works well, and share it through your review tool. Resolve's Deliver page also has upload presets for some services, and DaVinci Resolve Studio has had a built-in Frame.io integration, so check what your version and account support.

5 steps
In DaVinci Resolve
- 01Add timecode to the picture
- 02Render a review copy
- 03Upload and share
- 04Bring notes back as markers
- 05Or use an integration
01
Add timecode to the picture
Choose Workspace > Data Burn-In, tick Source Timecode or Record Timecode, and set the position. Reviewers can then quote exact times.
02
Render a review copy
On the Deliver page, choose H.264 MP4 at 1080p, set a moderate bitrate, and click Add to Render Queue, then Render All.
03
Upload and share
Upload the file to your review tool (Blackmagic Cloud, Frame.io, Dropbox or similar) and send the link.
04
Bring notes back as markers
Add each note as a marker on the timeline: put the playhead on the moment, press M, and press M again to type the note.
05
Or use an integration
Sign in to a service under Preferences > System > Internet Accounts and use its preset on the Deliver page, if your version and plan offer one.
Good to know
Before you start
- Note 1
- Resolve's Frame.io integration has been a Studio feature and was built for Frame.io's older platform. Check it works with your Frame.io account before you rely on comments syncing back.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie sends edits to Frame.io and can act on the comments.
Choose Export > Send to Frame.io. Comments sync back to Eddie for 14 days per send, and the spark on a comment asks Eddie to make the change; sending costs 10 credits. Comments left after the 14 days don't arrive, and you get no warning.
To take the comments into Resolve, use the Resolve OTIO export: it brings each comment in as a timeline marker. Resolve doesn't import markers from an FCPXML, and the .drp holds none, so the OTIO is a separate 100-credit export.
Back to Resolve
Open the edit, click Export and choose Resolve. The default is a Resolve project (.drp) that opens with the timeline built; behind the arrow is a Resolve FCPXML you bring into the project you have open with File > Import > Timeline. In the desktop app, Send to DaVinci Resolve builds the timeline in the Resolve you have running, through Eddie's script (Workspace > Scripts > Eddie AI AE).
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media: relink to those in the Media Pool with Relink Selected Clips, not to the camera originals.
FAQ

- Yes. They only need the review link; the review tool handles comments in the browser.
- How do I see all the markers in a list?
- Open the Index on the Edit page and switch to Markers. Double-click a marker to jump to it.
