Tick Reverse Speed. Change the speed at the same time if you want it faster or slower in reverse.

  4. 04

    Or reverse one section

Press Cmd+R (Mac) or Ctrl+R (Windows) for Retime Controls, add speed points around the section, open that section's speed menu and choose Reverse Segment.

  5. 05

    Deal with the audio

Reversed speech sounds wrong. Unlink the audio and delete it, or mute the track, and lay music or effects instead.

Do it in Eddie

Reverse playback isn't something Eddie does. Do it in Resolve after the hand-off.

Eddie handles the rest of the edit: it builds the cut, sets speed changes from 0.25x to 8x, and sends the timeline to Resolve, where you reverse the clip with Change Clip Speed.

Back to Resolve

Open the edit, click Export and choose Resolve. The default is a Resolve project (.drp) that opens with the timeline built; behind the arrow is a Resolve FCPXML you bring into the project you have open with File > Import > Timeline. In the desktop app, Send to DaVinci Resolve builds the timeline in the Resolve you have running, through Eddie's script (Workspace > Scripts > Eddie AI AE).

If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media: relink to those in the Media Pool with Relink Selected Clips, not to the camera originals.
