How to unlink audio and video in DaVinci Resolve
The short answer
Right-click the clip on the timeline and untick Link Clips (Option+Cmd+L on Mac, Ctrl+Alt+L on Windows) to unlink it for good. To move picture and sound apart just for now, turn off Linked Selection in the timeline toolbar (Cmd+Shift+L or Ctrl+Shift+L), or Option-click/Alt-click one part.

05
Relink later

Good to know
Before you start
- Note 1
- When you move unlinked parts out of sync, Resolve shows a red offset number on each clip. Right-click and choose the option to slip or move it back into place.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie handles audio and picture separately for you.
B-roll goes on as picture only, with the speaker's audio running underneath. To take a shot's sound from another file, ask, for example, "Use the lav audio under this shot." Per-clip levels arrive in Resolve as each clip's volume.
Back to Resolve
Open the edit, click Export and choose Resolve. The default is a Resolve project (.drp) that opens with the timeline built; behind the arrow is a Resolve FCPXML you bring into the project you have open with File > Import > Timeline. In the desktop app, Send to DaVinci Resolve builds the timeline in the Resolve you have running, through Eddie's script (Workspace > Scripts > Eddie AI AE).
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media: relink to those in the Media Pool with Relink Selected Clips, not to the camera originals.
