The Best Prompts for Editing Testimonial Videos

When you use AI like ChatGPT, Claude or Eddie to edit your testimonial videos, here are the best prompts to use.

A testimonial works when the customer's own words tell a short story: the problem, what changed, and a result you can believe. These prompts find those beats in a long interview and turn them into every length your marketing needs.

Replace the parts in [square brackets] with your own details. Each prompt asks for one result, so you can run them in order or pick the one you need.

Rough cut

  1. Find the three beats

Find where [customer name] describes the problem before they used [product], the moment things changed, and every line with a number or a concrete result. List them with timestamps.

Eddie searches the interview transcript for each beat and for lines with figures.

  2. The hero version

Make a [60]-second testimonial: the problem, then the change, then the [strongest number], ending on "[closing line]". Natural pacing.

Eddie builds the edit in that order from the customer's real words.

Highlights

  1. Several customers, one video

From all the customer interviews in this project, take the single strongest proof line from each and build a [45]-second montage.

Eddie picks one line per customer and assembles them into one edit.

  2. The most believable line

Which line in this interview sounds most like a genuine recommendation to a friend? Give me the top [3] with timestamps.

Eddie reads the transcript and returns candidate lines for you to choose from.

Social clips

  1. Cutdowns for ads

Make a [30]-second version with one problem line, the [number] and the closing line, and a [15]-second version with only the number and the closing line.

Eddie builds two new edits to the lengths you named and reports each length.

  2. A vertical version

Make the [30]-second version 9:16, cropped to the customer's face, with social captions.

Eddie sets a vertical canvas, crops to the detected face and adds captions.

Captions

  1. Name and company

Add a lower third "[Name], [Role], [Company]" at the customer's first shot on every version.

Eddie adds the lower-third graphic from its templates on each edit.

  2. Clean captions

Add minimal captions at the bottom and correct [misheard company name] to [correct name] first.

Eddie fixes the transcript, keeping word timings, then builds the captions.

B-roll

Eddie uses your own b-roll first. Where you have nothing that fits, it searches stock footage: free Pexels clips, plus your own Shutterstock catalog if you connect it. When neither has the shot, it can generate a short b-roll clip. It quotes the credits first and generates nothing until you agree. You can also tell it to use only your own footage.

  1. Proof in pictures

Put the [product close-ups] over the part about [the new system] and the [customer's workplace shots] over the result. Use only our own footage.

Eddie places your b-roll over the matching beats and uses nothing else when you say so.

Multicam

  1. Hide trims with the second camera

Sync [cam A] and [cam B] as one multicam group, then switch camera at every cut inside an answer so the trims do not jump.

Eddie groups the cameras and assigns a different angle at each cut.

Export

  1. Every placement

Export the 60, 30 and 15 second versions as 1080p MP4s, named by length.

Eddie renders each edit in the cloud.

  2. Send for sign-off

Give me a review link for the hero version so [the customer] can approve it.

Eddie returns a review page that needs no Eddie account, where comments land on the timeline.

Questions

Do these prompts work with ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes, when ChatGPT or Claude is connected to Eddie through its MCP server.
How long should a testimonial be?
Sixty to ninety seconds for a website, 15 to 30 seconds for ads. Build the long version first and cut down from it.
