We are going to IBC in Amsterdam, and I am especially grateful that Eddie AI was invited into one of IBC's Accelerator projects.
The IBC Accelerator program exists to push the boundaries of the media industry. That matters to us. Eddie has always been about pushing video workflows forward: not as a gimmick, but as practical infrastructure for editors, producers, directors, story teams and post teams doing real work.
This year IBC has nine Accelerator programs. Eddie AI joined FRAMES, a project focused on federated retrieval, agentic media environments and software-defined workflows. It brings together teams including RAI, MovieLabs and Google Cloud, with Eddie AI as one of the invited participants.
The work split into two parts. Both are the kind of thing that makes the future of post-production feel much closer than it did even a year ago.
Finding the best moments in RAI's archive
The first part was about archive footage.
RAI had hours of archival material. The task was to go through that material and find the best moments for the project. A human working with Eddie did the search in about 10 minutes. A human working alone took about three hours.
The speed difference is obvious, but speed was not the only difference. The human plus Eddie workflow delivered a better result: faster search, better coverage and more accurate selections.
That is the kind of workflow where AI should be useful. The point is not to remove judgment from the process. The point is to let a human editor or producer spend less time digging through the archive and more time making the call.
Cutting inside a Blackmagic Cloud project
The second part came near the end of the project, and it was mind-blowing.
We had a set of generative video shots. Eddie was invited into a Blackmagic Cloud project, spun up a computer in the cloud, installed and opened DaVinci Resolve, joined the project, went through the bin, collated the takes, chose the best ones, cut them to the script, added music and timed the edit to the beats.
That is the part I cannot wait to show properly at IBC.
This is not just "AI generated a video." It is an assistant editor operating inside the same kind of collaborative project environment a post team already uses. It can look through the material, make editorial choices, assemble the sequence and still hand the work back in a professional editing workflow.
