How to export an XML from Premiere Pro
Short answer
Select the sequence in the Project panel or Timeline, then choose File > Export > Final Cut Pro XML. Name the file, choose where to save it, and click Save.
In Premiere Pro
01
Select the sequence
Click the sequence in the Project panel, or click inside its Timeline so it is active. Premiere exports only the selected sequence.
02
Choose File > Export > Final Cut Pro XML
Choose File > Export > Final Cut Pro XML. Premiere's XML is the Final Cut Pro 7 format that DaVinci Resolve, Avid and most other editors read.
03
Save the file
Give the file a name, pick a folder and click Save. If Premiere could not translate something, it saves a translation report next to the XML.
04
Send the media with it
The XML does not contain any media. Send it with the media folder, or use File > Project Manager to collect the sequence's files into one folder first.
- Nested sequences, multicam, speed changes and simple transitions usually survive. Lumetri grades, Essential Graphics titles and many effects do not.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
You don't need an XML to bring a Premiere sequence into Eddie.
In the Eddie desktop app, import from Premiere Pro and pick the sequence. Eddie takes it in as one piece of footage that you cut from like any other clip. Eddie does not open XML, .prproj, EDL or AAF files, so this route replaces the XML step.
Most editors bring clips, not finished sequences: Eddie reads the clips from your Premiere bin, transcribes and logs them, and builds the cut you ask for.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.

Questions
- Is Premiere's XML the same as FCPXML?
- No. Premiere exports Final Cut Pro 7 XML (.xml). Final Cut Pro X uses FCPXML (.fcpxml), a different format that Premiere does not read or write.
- Can I export an XML of only part of a sequence?
- Not directly. Duplicate the sequence, delete what you don't need, and export that copy.
