How to move a CapCut project into Premiere Pro
Short answer
Premiere Pro cannot open a CapCut project. Export the finished video from CapCut and import it, export the captions as an SRT if you need them, or rebuild the edit in Premiere from the original clips.
In Premiere Pro
01
Decide what you need
If the CapCut edit is final, you only need the video file. If you want to keep editing in Premiere, you need the original clips, because CapCut does not write a timeline Premiere can read.
02
Export the video from CapCut
In CapCut, click Export, set the resolution and frame rate to match your Premiere sequence, and export an MP4.
03
Export the captions
If the CapCut project has captions, export them as an SRT file from CapCut's caption export option.
04
Import into Premiere
In Premiere, choose File > Import and bring in the MP4, the SRT and any original clips. Drag the SRT onto the timeline to make a caption track.
- To recut, use the original camera files, not the CapCut export. The export has every cut, title and effect baked in.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
The same limit applies to Eddie and CapCut: they don't share timelines, so video files are the bridge.
If you edit in Eddie and finish in Premiere, you don't need CapCut in between. Eddie exports a Premiere project (.prproj) with the cut, b-roll and captions on separate tracks. For CapCut itself, render the Eddie edit as an MP4 and import that.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.

Questions
- Can CapCut export an XML for Premiere?
- CapCut does not export a timeline file that Premiere Pro can import. Use the video and SRT exports instead.
- Will my CapCut captions keep their style in Premiere?
- No. An SRT holds text and timing only. Style the captions again in Premiere.
