How to make music fit the length of a video in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Select the music clip, open Essential Sound, tag it as Music, and under Duration choose Remix. Type the target length and Premiere rebuilds the track to end naturally at that time.
In Premiere Pro
01
Place the music
Put the full track on the timeline from the point it should start.
02
Tag it as Music
In Essential Sound, click Music.
03
Choose Remix
Under Duration, choose Remix and type the target duration. Premiere cuts and rejoins the track at musical points.
04
Or drag it
Choose the Remix tool (in the same tool group as Ripple Edit) and drag the end of the music clip to where the video ends.
05
Check the seams
Remix shows wavy lines where it joined parts. Listen to each one.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie generates music at the length of the edit, or cuts the edit to the music.
Generated music is made for the edit, at 200 credits per minute. For a track you already have, upload it and ask Eddie to snap the cuts to the beat.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.

Questions
- Can Remix make a song longer?
- Yes. It repeats sections to reach the target length.
- Why does my remix sound wrong?
- Tracks with long build-ups or vocals are harder. Adjust Segments and Variations in Remix's advanced settings.
