How to fade to black in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Drag Effects > Video Transitions > Dissolve > Dip to Black onto the end of the last clip. Drag its edge to set the length, and add an audio fade at the same point.
In Premiere Pro
01
Apply Dip to Black
Drag Dip to Black onto the end of the last clip (or the start of the first for a fade in).
02
Set the length
Drag the transition's edge; one to two seconds is common at the end of a film.
03
Fade the audio
Add a Constant Power crossfade at the same point so the sound fades with the picture.
04
Or use opacity
For full control, keyframe Opacity from 100% to 0% in Effect Controls over an empty black area.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Ask Eddie to fade out, and the fade carries into Premiere.
Say "Fade to black at the end." Fades arrive in Premiere as real transitions. In Eddie's player and MP4 previews, a dissolve shows as a quick dip through black.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.
