How to transcribe a video in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Open Window > Text, go to the Transcript tab, and click Transcribe sequence. Or select clips in the Project panel and transcribe them, so you can edit from the source transcript.
In Premiere Pro
01
Pick what to transcribe
Transcribe a sequence for captions, or clips for text-based editing. Premiere can also transcribe clips automatically on import; turn this on in Settings > Transcription.
02
Open the Transcript tab
Choose Window > Text and open Transcript.
03
Set the language and speakers
Click Transcribe, choose the spoken language, and tick the option to recognize different speakers.
04
Wait for it
Premiere transcribes on your computer after downloading the language pack. A one-hour interview usually takes a few minutes.
05
Correct it
Double-click a word in the transcript to fix it, and rename the speakers.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie transcribes every clip you import, in 100+ languages.
Eddie detects the language automatically and time-stamps every word. Attach a keyterm dictionary before import to get names and terms spelled right. Eddie then logs each interview, so you can ask for soundbites by topic.
