How to move captions in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Select the captions on the caption track, then in the Properties panel change the position or use the alignment grid to place them. To move every caption, select them all on the track (or edit the Track Style) before you change the position.
In Premiere Pro
01
Select the captions
Click one caption, or click the first and Shift-click the last to select a range. To select every caption, click the caption track and press Cmd+A or Ctrl+A with only that track targeted.
02
Set the position
In Window > Properties (or Essential Graphics), use the alignment grid to choose top, middle or bottom, and adjust the vertical position value for a custom spot.
03
Keep it consistent
Save the position in the Track Style so new captions land in the same place.
04
Check the safe area
Turn on Safe Margins in the Program Monitor's wrench menu, and keep captions inside the title-safe box, away from platform buttons on vertical video.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Pick top, center or bottom in Eddie, and it moves captions off faces on its own.
Choose Bottom, Center or Top in the caption lane's style menu. If a caption would cover a face, Eddie moves it to a clear band. The position carries into the Premiere project's caption track.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.
