How to delete gaps in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Click the empty space between clips and press Delete to ripple delete one gap. To close every gap in a sequence, select the clips and choose Sequence > Close Gap.
In Premiere Pro
01
Remove one gap
Click the empty space between two clips so it highlights, then press Delete or right-click and choose Ripple Delete. Everything after it moves left.
02
Remove all gaps at once
Select the clips, or press Cmd+A or Ctrl+A to select the whole sequence, then choose Sequence > Close Gap.
03
Check synced tracks
Ripple edits move every unlocked track. Lock tracks you want to stay in place, such as music, by clicking their lock icon first.
04
Avoid gaps while cutting
Use Shift+Delete (Ripple Delete) instead of Delete when removing clips, so a gap never forms.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie's timeline has no gaps to close.
Clips on Eddie's timeline sit end to end, and removing a part closes it up. If you want space, ask Eddie for a break or a beat after a line, and it places a pause segment that carries into the Premiere export.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.
