How to color correct in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Switch to the Color workspace, select the clip, and in Lumetri Color > Basic Correction set the white balance with the eyedropper, then exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites and blacks. Check the Lumetri Scopes as you go.
In Premiere Pro
01
Open the Color workspace
Choose Window > Workspaces > Color. It shows Lumetri Color and Lumetri Scopes.
02
Set white balance
Select the clip, open Basic Correction and click the White Balance eyedropper on something that should be neutral grey or white.
03
Set exposure and contrast
Adjust Exposure, then Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites and Blacks. Watch the waveform in Lumetri Scopes: keep skin roughly in the middle and avoid clipping at the top or bottom.
04
Set saturation
Raise or lower Saturation in Basic Correction. Check skin tones on the vectorscope's skin line.
05
Copy it to similar shots
Right-click the clip and choose Copy, select the other clips from the same camera and light, then choose Edit > Paste Attributes and tick Lumetri Color.
- Correct first (neutral, balanced shots), then grade (the look) on an adjustment layer above.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie grades by prompt, but its grade doesn't travel in the Premiere project.
Ask "Warm it up and boost contrast" or "Match the color across the two cameras." Grading costs nothing extra inside a prompt run. The Premiere project (.prproj) never carries Eddie's grade, and Premiere XML carries it as an editable correction for some edits only. If you finish in Premiere, do the color there.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.

Questions
- What is the difference between color correction and grading?
- Correction makes shots neutral and consistent. Grading gives them a look.
- Why does my export look different from Premiere?
- Usually color management or the display. Check the sequence's color settings and your monitor's profile.
