How to make a video black and white in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Select the clip, open Lumetri Color > Basic Correction and set Saturation to 0. Then adjust Contrast, Highlights and Shadows for a strong black-and-white image.
In Premiere Pro
01
Remove the color
Select the clip and set Saturation to 0 in Lumetri Color > Basic Correction. Or drag Effects > Video Effects > Image Control > Black & White onto it.
02
Set the contrast
Raise Contrast, and use Whites and Blacks to give the image a full range from black to white.
03
Shape the tones
Use Curves to brighten faces or darken the sky.
04
Apply to many clips
Put the adjustment on an adjustment layer above the section.

Do it in Eddie
Ask Eddie for a black-and-white look, and remember the grade stays in Eddie.
Grading by prompt is free inside a prompt run and shows in Eddie and in MP4 renders. The Premiere project doesn't carry Eddie's grade, so for a Premiere finish, set saturation to 0 there.
Back to Premiere
Open the edit, click Export and choose Premiere. You get a Premiere project (.prproj) or the older Premiere XML. In the desktop app, Send to Premiere Pro builds the edit inside Premiere through Eddie's panel, which the app installs for you.
If you imported the footage through the desktop app, the timeline points at your original camera files, so Premiere relinks to them. If you uploaded on the web or pulled from cloud storage, it points at Eddie's proxy media; relink to those, not to the camera originals.
