How to export a video as MP4 in Premiere Pro
Short answer
Select the sequence, click Export at the top of the window (or press Cmd+M or Ctrl+M), set Format to H.264, choose a preset such as Match Source - High bitrate, set the file name and location, and click Export.
In Premiere Pro
01
Select the sequence
Click in the Timeline, or select the sequence in the Project panel.
02
Open Export
Click the Export tab at the top of the window, or press Cmd+M on Mac or Ctrl+M on Windows.
03
Choose H.264
Under Settings, set Format to H.264. That makes an .mp4 file.
04
Pick a preset
Choose Match Source - High bitrate to keep the sequence's size and frame rate.
05
Name it and export
Click the File Name and Location fields to set where it goes, then click Export. Choose Send to Media Encoder instead to keep working while it renders.
- Premiere saves exports next to the project file unless you change Location. Click the blue location text to see or change it.
Eddie AI
Do it in Eddie
Eddie renders the MP4 in the cloud, captions and graphics included.
Open Export > All export options > Video file and choose MP4 at 1080p, 4K (2160p) or source; all three cost the same. Cloud renders run up to 60 minutes long; desktop renders have no length limit. The first 10 cloud MP4s each day are free per workspace, then 50 credits each. You can also ask for a size cap, such as "Export an MP4 under 25 MB."
