Make a rough cut from an interview

Import your interviews, ask Eddie for a cut with a target length, then steer it with plain-language changes.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Here's the approach.

Eddie builds the cut from what people say. Import your interview footage, wait for the analysis to finish, and ask for a rough cut with a target length.

Each later prompt changes the same edit, so you steer the cut one change at a time instead of starting again.

Step by step.

    Import the interviews

Add your interview footage to a new project. Eddie transcribes and analyses each source first. Prompting opens when the first import finishes.

  2. 02

Ask for the cut, with a length

Open Prompt Eddie and describe the cut. For example: "Build a rough cut from these interviews. Pull the strongest soundbites and put them in an order that tells a clear story. Aim for about 8 minutes."

  3. 03

Revise one thing at a time

Ask for changes in plain words: "Start on the second question", "Drop the section about pricing", "Remove filler words and long pauses". Each prompt edits the same timeline.

  4. 04

    Cover it with b-roll

If your cutaways are in the project, ask for them by content: "Add b-roll wherever they mention the product."

  5. 05

    Hand it over

Export the timeline to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Media Composer to finish there, or render an MP4.
